Crock Pot Swiss Steak

Cook: 6 to 8 hours | Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 to 2 pounds round steak
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 16-ounce can tomatoes, cut up
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 green pepper, sliced
  • 1 rib celery, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon thick bottled steak sauce

Instructions

  1. Cut steak into serving-size pieces. Coat with flour, salt and pepper.
  2. In large skillet or slow-cooking pot with browning unit, brown meat in oil.
  3. Pour off excess fat.
  4. In slow-cooking pot, combine meat with tomatoes, onion, green pepper, celery and steak sauce.
  5. Cover pot and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or until tender.
  6. Thicken juices with additional flour, dissolved in a small amount of water, if desired.
  7. Serve with mashed potatoes.
